Fed up of not losing any weight despite of following so many things?? The answer lies here…..Heavy dinner can be a reason for not losing weight.

Yes! Heavy dinner can be the culprit for not losing weight despite of following so many things. Our body works on a simple principle of demand and supply. Our body needs more energy when we are more active whereas we require less energy when we are less active. We don’t require so much energy when we’re going to relax after dinner and ultimately sleep. It is advisable to have a 2-hour gap between dinner and sleep. This is one big way to avoid unnecessary weight and fat gain. Having a lighter dinner helps in good digestion and efficient use of nutrients within the body. Therefore dinner should be the lightest meal of the day to stay active and healthy.

Apart from that, it is not advisable to take heavy dinner for longer run as the capacity of our body for digestion and metabolism is almost shut down by night hours. That is why if heavy meals are taken during that time of the day, our digestion will be impacted in a negatively. It will further lead to heavy stomach, flatulence, acidity and heartburn.

Now the question comes, what should be the timings and food items for an ideal dinner? The items in dinner should include those products which are easy to digest but gives you the feeling of fullness so that you will not wake up in the middle of the night due to hunger. For instance, oats porridge with lots of vegetables, bottle gourd with roti/chapati, vegetable wheat porridge etc. There is no such ideal time when exactly you should go for your dinner but dinner should be done by 8.00 PM. A glass of lukewarm skimmed milk after an hour of dinner would be best for fullness and at the same time, it will make you feel lighter. One more advantage of doing that is sound sleep. Yes, a glass of lukewarm milk before bed is responsible for sound sleep and good for those who have insomnia.

In conclusion, dinner should be the lightest meal of the day to be healthy and active throughout your life.
